Supporting AVECs and MUSOs for Economic Empowerment in South Kivu

Mwenga, South Kivu (DRC) – As part of the "Women in Action" project, the NGO PIFEVA, with support from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and the Paul Gérin Lajoie Foundation (FPGL), is strengthening the economic autonomy of Village Savings and Credit Associations (AVECs) and Solidarity Mutual Funds (MUSOs) in 10 villages in South Kivu. This initiative aims to improve the financial independence of women and local communities.

Key Achievements

  • 736 leaders (691 women, 45 men) from 23 AVECs
  • 575 members (539 women, 36 men) from 16 MUSOs
  • Enhanced management through tools and practices for collective savings and credit

Toward a Resilient and Inclusive Economy

In partnership with GAC and FPGL, PIFEVA supports AVECs and MUSOs to build a resilient local economy, empowering women and improving the financial security of families.
