With funding from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and in partnership with the Paul Gérin-Lajoie Foundation and the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada, PIFEVA implemented the project "Knowledge, Rights, and Leadership: Actions by and for Women for Climate Change Adaptation" (Women in Action). The project’s activities contribute to biodiversity protection and conservation through the restoration of community forests; to increased incomes for targeted Indigenous women by strengthening the capacity of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), Solidarity Mutuals (MUSO), and Income-Generating Activities (IGAs); to ecological literacy among Indigenous women beneficiaries; to the promotion of innovative, inclusive approaches to addressing gender-based violence in the land and forestry sectors; and to food security for these Indigenous women and their dependents through support involving training, inputs, and climate-resilient agricultural practices in North and South Kivu, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
